NEFGIS.com is a website, a community portal, but also more.  It is a central method for our NE Florida community of GIS Professionals to act and interact with each other.  It enables us to reach many of the goals.  The development of NEFGIS.com provides us three types of impact: Communicate, Contribute and Create.

• Communication. A consistent method for communicating is fundamental in collaborating with each other.  The website is broadcasting information to help its members know about the present, future, and past actions of the NEFGIS Group.
• Contribute. Our membership is comprised of active and experienced people that have contributed their knowledge in their workplace.  NEFGIS.com allows each of its members the opportunity to contribute content and ideas to widen the impact of our network.
• Create. Members of NEFGIS have created new data, projects and processes with the ideas and energy they provide.  Having a platfrom like NEFGIS.com allows the members an opportunity to create further success of GIS through their individual actions.

Latest Completed Improvements and Actions:

• NEFGIS LOGO Competition Completed! NEFGIS.com members participated in selecting the top Logos submissions in the NEFGIS Logo selection campaign.  The top two logos will be selected during our February 2012 meeting.

Planned Improvements and Actions:

• Planned: A WebLink Directories section for NE FL GIS, including Agencies, Businesses, Data Sites and Applications.
• Planned: Member Contribution Functions such as blogging.

Completed Improvements and Actions:

• Autumn Roll Out! NEFGIS.com was updated with a user Message Board for members to submit ideas and comments on topics including Employment, Training and Events, Technical Advice or Tips, and Miscellaneous.  The Message Board gives each of you an opportunity to contibute to our organization.
• NEFGIS LOGO Competition! NEFGIS invites you to help us create a new logo.  Visit our article at NEFGIS.com with the details.  Submissions will be viewed on this website.  NEFGIS Members will be voting to select the winning logo.

Summer Roll Out! NEFGIS.com was published providing a history of meetings, current notices, news, articles, surveys, purpose along with a Member login system.
Develop website template and content. Develop static content such as news, meeting structure, articles, headers, footers and more.  Develop dynamic content such as membership, messages, blogs, news feeds, surveys, message boards and more.
Content Management Platform. Review content management systems.  Research top two.  Select and prototype Joomla content management system.
Website functionality survey. Contact members, Steering Committee and other GIS user groups to identify the need and potential uses for NEFGIS.com.  Identify development plan for reaching higher priority functions and sequence of website developments.  Develop interim page with critical content.
Domain Selection. Research aquisition of NEFGIS.org versus NEFGIS.com.  Aquire NEFGIS.com, provide hosting.
